Change Windows XP Start Button Text

Changing the Windows XP Start button text is possible but a bit tricky. Basically the worst that can happen is that the binary explorer.exe can become corrupt but that can easily be fixed by overwriting the corrupt file with a backup copy.
If you consider it worth the risk feel free to do the following steps:
1) Make a backup of explorer.exe
1.1) Go to your Windows directory (Normally C:Windows)
1.2) Copy explorer.exe
1.3) Paste copy of explorer.exe in the Windows folder (You may want to make an additional copy at some other location)
2) ResourceHacker
2.1) Get ResourceHacker (Search for it on Google)
2.2) Install ResourceHacker
3) Terminate active explorer.exe process
3.1) Open Task Manager
3.2) Select the Processes tab
3.3) Select explorer.exe process
3.4) Press End Process
4) Open explorer.exe in ResourceHacker
4.1) Run ResourceHacker
4.2) From the File menu select Open
4.3) Browse to your Windows directory (Normally C:Windows)
4.4) Select Explorer.exe
4.5) Press Open
5) Modify explorer.exe to show custom text for Start button
5.1) Expand String table
5.2) Expand 37 (Note this is for Windows XP style)
5.3) Expand 1033
5.4) Replace Start with whatever custom text you want
5.5) Expand 38 (Note this is for Windows Classic style)
5.6) Expand 1033
5.7) Replace Start with whatever custom text you want
5.8) Press Compile Script
5.9) From the File menu select Save
6) Start explorer.exe process
6.1) Open Task Manager
6.2) From the File menu select New Task (Run...)
6.3) Type explorer.exe
6.4) Press OK
If everything was done successfully, you should find that the custom text that you specified is now shown on the Windows XP Start button.
If you get a message saying that explore.exe is corrupt, simply use Task Manager to run cmd.exe and copy backup explorer.exe over corrupt explorer.exe
